Hello, and welcome to our blog. We are a comitted couple living in West Lothian with our seven furry (& thirteen feathered) babies - don't worry, we don't have kids with Hirsutism - they are dogs, cats, chickens and a parrot!! We consider ourselves to be happy-go-lucky individuals, who most definitely believe in living life to the full whilst attempting not to hurt people along the way! We enjoy the company of warm, fun people - a sense of humour is absolutely essential to 'get' us (plain silly to pure sarcasm). We don't 'gel' well with people who can suck the life out a duracell battery.

Our hobbies are vast and varied...We should spend a lot of time renovating our 100 year old cottage, but we much prefer browsing for hours in book shops, people watching, coffee shops, cinema, shopping, walking by the beach or being lost for hours in the country, cuddling in bed, watching DVDs when we really should be out cutting the grass!, cooking, eating out in quaint little restaurants that serve food so yummy you want to do a little dance at the table, playing Sudoka (and spending way too much money on those rip off little puzzle books!), debating (for hours on end) with each other (or anyone who'll listen) over the downfall of society, etc...and how everything was much better in 'our day', telling each other the same stories over and over again...and still expecting the laughs/knods like it's the first time we've ever heard them, Scrabble, spending money we don't have on things we don't need, xwords/arrow words, Eggheads (any quiz programme really), gardening - in an attempt to become as self sufficient as possible, spending hours upon hours sitting watching our beautiful girls doing what chickens do, reading/posting on various forums (addictive, isn't it?). Oh..and saving for our Civil Ceremony, planned for 2012.

Torrential Tuesday! :(

I haven't posted in AGES!! Shame on me...truth is, I've been busy busy with work, puppies, chickens, more work...etc! No excuse really...but, I'm back now, so I'll do a bumper picture post to make it up to myself! :)

We've had some lovely spells of hot weather since I last posted, in which we all enjoyed yummy BBQs and paddling pool antics (mostly the dogs in the pool in fairness!)...but today, it's horrible...back to the typical Scottish weather...RAIN! :(

Aww...they love each other.

We celebrated Liz' birthday on the 8th June (I won't disclose what age she is!), which was lovely. We had a few days off from work and enjoyed an entire birthday celebration long weekend. Dinner at the Champany Inn, shopping, movies to see 'Drag Me To Hell' which was brilliant...and lots of relaxation and wine! Bliss....

She of course got lots of other wee gifts, but it would be O.T.T to put pics of everything on the blog...lol. :)

We had a hen crisis over the period we were missing in action also. Bertha snapped her beak, which was frightening for a while, as it really was hanging off. Thankfully, it has now grown back almost fully...and it's straight! :)

The girls have enjoyed many a day free ranging in the garden during the nice (and not so nice) weather. Some pictures of them below...

No blog would be complete without a picture of Davey being his usual silly self. Behold...our dogs favourite toy of the moment. Promise, this is not set up...this is really his favourite toy now, and he carries it around almost everywhere. :(

I will leave you with the images of our broody girl Henrietta, and her chicks to be! We put 10 fertile eggs under her yesterday, so with any luck in 21 days we'll have some babies to entertain us. It would be too much to ask for 10 girls, but we can hope! :)

Her clutch of eggs - blue = araucana, olive green = maran X araucana and brown = maran. All these pullets (should we get them) will lay a blue/green egg as the blue gene is dominant.
